The first edition of the Justice Y.K. Sabharwal Constitutional Law Moot Court Competition was held at National Law University, Delhi from 04 October 2018 - 07 October 2018.

The Moot attracted Registration from a total of over 60 teams out of which 52 teams sent the Memorials for evaluation. 12 teams were short-listed and invited for the oral rounds namely -

1. Alliance School of Law, Bangalore.
2. Faculty of Law, Aligarh Muslim University, Aligarh.
3. Hidayatullah National Law University, Raipur
4. Institute of Law, Nirma University, Ahmedabad.
5. Law Centre - II, Faculty of Law, Delhi University, New Delhi.
6. National Law Institute University, Bhopal.
7. National Law School of India University, Bangalore.
8. Rajiv Gandhi National University of Law, Patiala.
9. SASTRA Deemed University, Thanjavur.
10. School of Excellence in Law, the Tamil Nadu Dr. Ambedkar Law University, Chennai.
11. School of Law, Christ (Deemed to be University), Bangalore. 
12. West Bengal National University of Juridical Sciences, Kolkata.

After three preliminary rounds the teams that qualified for the semi-finals were Alliance School of Law- Bangalore, School of Excellence in Law, The Tamil Nadu Dr. Ambedkar Law University- Chennai, School of Law- Christ and National Law School of India University- Bangalore and after a close competition in the finals, School of Excellence in Law, The Tamil Nadu Dr. Ambedkar Law University, Chennai emerged as the winners of the first edition and the National Law School of India University, Bangalore emerged as the runners-up.

The Best Memorial Award was jointly shared by Hidayatullah National Law University, Raipur and Alliance School of Law, Bangalore. The Best Oralist Award went to Surya Narayanan, School of Excellence in Law, The Tamil Nadu Dr. Ambedkar Law University, Chennai.
